After a 17-year absence, the Michelin Guide is officially back in Las Vegas – and Sin City’s dining scene just got a very prestigious vote of confidence.

Las Vegas already knows how to put on a show. But on Wednesday night, August 26, the spotlight was squarely on the city’s chefs, restaurants and the incredible hospitality teams that make this city an international hotspot.

At a highly anticipated ceremony at the Michelin One Key resort, Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the Michelin Guide unveiled its inaugural American Southwest selection, bringing Michelin stars back to Las Vegas for the first time since 2009.

And yes – Las Vegas is officially a Michelin-starred dining destination again.

The return is a big deal. Michelin first came to Las Vegas in 2008, awarding stars to some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants. But after a second edition in 2009, the guide disappeared from Sin City for nearly two decades.

Now, Michelin is back – and the new guide covers not just Las Vegas, but restaurants across Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.

Even with the guide’s expansion across Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, Las Vegas walked away as the big winner of the evening, with four of the Southwest’s five Michelin-starred restaurants. The only restaurant outside of Las Vegas to earn a star was Monte, a contemporary American destination in South Salt Lake, Utah, making it the first restaurant in Utah to receive a Michelin star.

The broader guide also shines a spotlight on culinary talent throughout the Southwest. Arizona’s Reserve in Scottsdale earned the Michelin Sommelier Award, while Bacanora and Huarachis Taqueria chef Rene Andrade received the Michelin Young Chef Award. In Utah, several Park City restaurants, including Handle, The Nelson Cottage by High West and Matilda, were recognized by Michelin. Restaurants across New Mexico also made the inaugural selection, showing that while Las Vegas took the lion’s share of the stars, the entire Southwest is having its Michelin moment.

So, Who Got the Michelin Stars?

Four Las Vegas restaurants received coveted Michelin stars — including one restaurant that earned the city’s only two-star distinction.

Joël Robuchon – Two Stars

The legendary Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand received two Michelin stars, making it the highest-rated restaurant in Las Vegas in the new guide.

The restaurant also has a fascinating Michelin history. When the guide first came to Las Vegas, Joël Robuchon was the only restaurant in the city to receive three stars.

Seventeen years later, it remains at the very top of the Las Vegas dining scene.

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon – One Star

Also at MGM Grand, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon received one Michelin star.

The restaurant was already a Michelin-starred destination during the guide’s original Las Vegas run, making its return to the list a particularly notable full-circle moment.

Restaurant Guy Savoy – One Star

At Caesars Palace, Restaurant Guy Savoy earned one Michelin star.

Guy Savoy was also among the restaurants recognized during Michelin’s original Las Vegas editions, and the chef called the new distinction especially meaningful after more than two decades of building his Las Vegas team.

é by José Andrés – One Star

And then there’s é by José Andrés at The Cosmopolitan, which earned one Michelin star.

This one is particularly interesting because é wasn’t around during Michelin’s original Las Vegas editions. In other words, this is a brand-new Michelin chapter for the restaurant.

Bib Gourmand: Where Great Food Meets Great Value

Michelin stars get the headlines, but one of my favorite parts of any Michelin announcement is the Bib Gourmand category.

Why? Because it recognizes restaurants serving high-quality food at a more approachable price point.

In the Michelin Guide, Bib Gourmand restaurants are described as offering good quality and good value cooking. Traditionally, diners can expect a couple of courses and a glass of wine or dessert for around $50 before tax and tip.

Three Las Vegas restaurants made the cut:

  • China Poblano — The Cosmopolitan
  • Esther’s Kitchen — Las Vegas Arts District
  • Yen Viet Kitchen — Chinatown

That means you don’t have to book a multi-course luxury tasting menu to experience a Michelin-recognized restaurant in Las Vegas.

And I love that. In fact, we’re eating lunch at one of those incredible locations today.

The Michelin-Recommended Las Vegas Restaurants

Michelin also released a broader list of restaurants it recommends in its 2026 Southwest Guide.

The Las Vegas selections include:

  • Anima by Edo
  • Bouchon
  • Cote Las Vegas
  • Estiatorio Milos
  • Gymkhana
  • Kabuto
  • Kame Omakase
  • Lamaii
  • Michael Mina
  • Mott 32
  • Partage
  • Pho Ga Bac Bac
  • Ping Pang Pong
  • Soulbelly BBQ
  • Sparrow + Wolf
  • Stubborn Seed
  • Wing Lei

This is where I think the new guide gets especially interesting.

Las Vegas isn’t simply being recognized for traditional French fine dining. The recommended list reflects the incredible diversity of the city’s food scene, from Japanese and Vietnamese to Indian, Chinese, Korean, Mexican and modern American cuisine.

That’s a pretty good snapshot of modern Las Vegas.

Michelin Is Recognizing More Than Just the Food

One of the most important distinctions from this year’s ceremony wasn’t actually a star.

Sean Christopher of Joël Robuchon received the Michelin Service Award, recognizing outstanding hospitality.

And that matters.

Luxury dining isn’t just about what lands on the plate. It’s the service, the pacing, the knowledge, the warmth and those little details that make you feel genuinely cared for. Anyone who has ever been handed a special miniature chair for their purse or received an extra course created just for them knows that it’s often those unexpected touches that elevate a meal from exceptional to unforgettable.

As Christopher said during his acceptance speech, the team strives every night to make a connection with guests.

That is what hospitality is supposed to do.

Las Vegas Has Changed – And So Has Its Food Scene

There is something particularly fitting about Michelin returning now.

Las Vegas has transformed dramatically since Michelin last evaluated the city.

The dining scene is a destination in its own right, with world-class chefs, ambitious tasting menus, celebrity-backed restaurants, neighborhood gems and an increasingly sophisticated food-loving audience.

And the Michelin Guide’s return sends a powerful message: Las Vegas isn’t just a place where you come to see a show, gamble or stay at a beautiful hotel. You can come here specifically to eat.

Actually, you should.

The 2026 Michelin Guide Southwest gives travelers another reason to put Las Vegas on the culinary map – and gives locals plenty of new restaurants to add to their dining lists.

After 17 years away, Michelin is back.

And judging by this year’s selections, Las Vegas is ready for its close-up.
